A Victorian 9ct Gold shell cameo ring c. mid to late 1800s

Cameos were very popular in the Victorian era due to Queen Victoria's penchant for them and the increase in tourism within Europe by the middle classes, many of the best and most intricate cameos being derived from Italy

This hand crafted cameo ring features a Grecian goddess profile with flowing hair and floral head dress, hand carved into shell and has been bezel set in warm rosey 9ct gold, upon bifurcated shoulders that are beautifully hand engraved with foliate detailing

The ring is marked with the makers mark W.W. fully tested as 9ct Gold

Dimensions: The cameo setting is 13.1mm wide x 16.2mm high, the shoulders are 8.6mm wide graduating to the rear of the band to 4mm

Condition: very good antique condition, some wear to the cameo and engraving commensurate with age
