A very unusual Art Deco period, Sterling Silver, Scottish Agate panel bracelet, hallmarked in 1925

Scottish Hardstone jewellery became very popular in the mid 1800s. Prince Albert and Queen Victorian purchased Balmoral Castle in Scotland in 1852, Queen Victoria brought back souvenirs from her stay and of course what Queen Victoria did many others would follow and agate jewellery became all the rage! This bracelet however is a later piece from the height of the Art Deco period in the 1920s, very unusual and in a more simplistic design than the earlier Victorian pieces.

Skillfully hand made, each articulated section is inlaid with a border of Silver and 2 pieces of perfectly cut and polished agate stones. The panels alternate between a rectangle and a shield motif. Each shield is set with Bloodstone and a mottled burnt orange jasper, each rectangle is set with Montrose agate and a mottled burnt orange Jasper. The colours compliment each other to great effect! All backed in solid sterling Silver and stamped with the Lion passant.

The bracelet closes securely with a box clasp that is fully hallmarked to the rear

The banded agates are all in fantastic condition, shiny and bright, no cracks or chips.
