Antique, Georgian Gold Locket Ring With Emeralds & Pearls

Georgian Emerald & Pearl Gold locket ring from the Early 19th Century c1800-1820 in an octagonal antique ring box

This is a fabulous and rare to find Georgian Locket ring, also known as a poison ring, this beautiful example is set with a central cushion cut Emerald in a pinched setting, slightly raised above a halo of 6 creamy, lustrous split Pearls creating a flower head motif, accentuated by 6 little Emeralds around the edge and to the shoulders

The ring is housed within a 19th Century octagonal ring box that is included with the ring

The locket section, head of the ring and the shoulders are 18ct Gold, the shank looks to have been replaced at some point in the ring's long history as it is 9ct Gold although it is from the Georgian period in a fluted design that narrows to the rear.

One of the Emeralds set to the shoulder has been replaced at some point by a paste Emerald but this is not at all noticeable and is a very good colour match

The locket opens up on a hinge at the top and closes very securely with a good click, it has the original glazed compartment fully intact within

The Principal faceted Emerald is 2.8x2.8mm

The 6 larger split Pearls are 3.7mm round approximately

This c200 year old ring is ready to be worn and enjoyed but needs to be worn with care due to the delicate nature of the settings, not suitable for everyday wear

Unmarked tests as 18ct Gold head and shoulders and 9ct Gold shank

Condition: very good condition for age, 1 Emerald to the shoulder has been replaced with a paste Emerald but not at all noticeable due to the very good colour match, one Emerald to the shoulders is chipped, again not noticeable when worn, the principal Emerald is in very good condition, Pearls in very Good condition, there is a lead solder to the shoulder where the shank joins the shoulders to one side, again not noticeable but should be noted. The ring box is in good condition but needs to be handled carefully as these older boxes are fragile pieces
