Victorian 18ct Gold Wedding Band Ring, Rare Newcastle Assay
Victorian 18ct Gold wedding band with a very rare to find Newcastle assay hallmark
This beautiful band can be worn as a stacking ring, alone or of course, as intended as an antique wedding ring!
The band has a court shaped profile making it really comfortable to wear
The Newcastle Assay office closed in 1884, although the ring does not bear a date letter we can date it to 1884 or earlier, made by a Newcastle Jeweller of the period, Thomas Sewell. There is a Victorian wedding ring by Thomas Sewell, assayed in Newcastle on the V&A website that interestingly also doesn't bear a date letter
