A very rare to find Victorian Aesthetic movement, Bi-colour Gold over Sterling Silver book chain, collar necklace from the late 19th Century c1880s

A very special piece, you will not find another Victorian, Aesthetic Movement collar quite like this.

The lozenge shaped links are all unique, each one hand crafted, adorned with hand engraving and applied foliate details, highlighted with yellow and rose Gold overlay. The links are made up of a detailed front section and a plain reverse, fully articulated, they are each joined by a large connecting loop. The chain is all original and complete with the suspending link and large bolt ring clasps.

This magnificent necklace can be worn as it is or a locket can be suspended from the bottom bolt ring. The extension link can easily be removed if preferred and the clasp worn at the back or the front, making the necklace rather versatile!

Unmarked, tested as Sterling Silver approx. 925 fineness, 9ct Gold overlay

Dimensions: 47cm/ 18 1/4 inches long, links are 15mm wide x 27mm long, 3.4mm thick, the bottom link including bolt ring is 51mm long
