A stunning Victorian, Scottish, Silver and banded Agate panel belt buckle bracelet c1860s-1880s

Scottish Agate jewellery became very popular in the mid 1800s. Prince Albert and Queen Victorian purchased Balmoral Castle in Scotland in 1852, Queen Victoria brought back souvenirs from her stay and of course what Queen Victoria did many others would follow and agate jewellery became all the rage!

The painstakingley hand made bracelet is made up of beautiful, Hand engraved Silver star pierced panels of floral motif design interspersed betwixt the 3 hand carved banded agate panels, all hinged together making the bracelet fully articulated. A large hand engraved buckle with long pin holds the bracelet closed

The bracelet remains in wearable, (with care) perfectly preserved, original condition, the Agate are all shiny and bright, the silver is in excellent condition and maintains its antique patina, all hinges are in excellent condition, a testament to the craftsmanship of the time

Dimensions: 23cm long end to end , the bracelet can be adjusted at 2 positions, however the smallest position is the most secure way to wear the bracelet and is approximately 18cm / 7 1/16' wearable length (you will need quite a slim wrist). Agate width 24mm, buckle width 40mm

Condition: Excellent antique condition, there is a natural blemish within the agate on the back of one panel which is original and is not damage or detrimental to the bracelet
