A beautiful Victorian period Micro mosaic stick pin from the mid to late 19th Century c1870

Of Italian origin and no doubt a Grand Tour souvenir of the late 19th Century,

This beautiful micro mosaic depicts a white dove holding an olive branch signifying peace and hope, within a red background and framed within a Gold beaded surround in 14ct Gold

Beautifully made by skilled artisans, the tesserae (the little tiles) are skillfully applied to create a life like image, Italians were prolific creators of micro mosaics in the 18th to 19th Century and rich travellers on their 'Grand Tour' through Europe would purchase them as souvenirs

Unmarked, tests as 14ct Gold, (the pin is 9ct Gold)

Dimensions: The round micro mosaic measures 17.4mm round x 4.7mm deep

Condition: Very good antique condition, there are a couple of tiny tesserae missing from the red background but not at all noticeable and not detrimental to this beautiful piece
