Victorian Hand Engraved Sterling Silver & Cairngorm Citrine Belt Buckle Bracelet c1880s

A stunning Victorian, Scottish, Silver and old cut Cairngorm Citrine, hand engraved panel buckle bracelet c1860s-1880s

These Citrine stones were sourced from the Cairngorm mountain region in Scotland in the mid to late 1800s and cut, faceted and polished by hand, by skilled lapidarists; they were highly prized in Victorian times. Queen Victoria herself had a particular penchant for them which led to their popularity. This bracelet is a beautifully striking example of Victorian Cairngorm Citrine Jewellery that remains in superb condition!

This painstakingly handmade bracelet is a high quality example of the period and a real heirloom piece. Made up of beautiful, Hand cut and hand engraved Sterling Silver panels of floral motif design. 5 of the panels are set with a round, hand cut Cairngorm Citrine, all unique in size and set within the panels, 6 claws holding each one securely in place. The light shines through each stone showing off their smoky yellow hue

The bracelet is hinged together making it fully articulated. A chunky and large hand engraved buckle with long pin holds the bracelet closed

The bracelet remains in perfectly preserved, original condition, the Citrine are all shiny and bright, the silver is in excellent condition with very well defined engraving, all hinges are in excellent condition, a testament to the craftsmanship of the time

The bracelet can be adjusted at 3 positions, making it suitable for mosts wrists. A 'belt loop' or keeper holds the end of the belt end firmly in place when worn

Unmarked, tests as approximately Sterling Silver (925 fineness)

Dimensions: 24.8cm long (end to end), Bracelet panel width is 21mm. The bracelet can be worn at 2 positions at 19cm or 21cm, making it suitable for mosts wrists. The largest Citrine is 16mm round, the smallest is 14.1mm round. The buckle height is 42.6mm
