Victorian, Aesthetic Movement Large Sterling Silver Locket, With Bird Motif

A magnificent, bi-colour, Victorian Aesthetic movement locket in Silver with Gold overlay c1880

This is a big and beautiful antique locket with gorgeous hand engraved detailing to the front, featuring typical Japanese inspired motifs, a long plumed bird on a foliate branch and a zig zag panel that adds further interest to the design. A reeded border and finished off with a decorative ball surround, plain polished to the rear with a reeded frame.

The locket opens and closes perfectly with a good click, the inside is complete with photo frame inserts and glazed panels to hold a photograph secure on both sides

The locket is unmarked, has been xrf tested as solid Sterling Silver 925 and 9ct Gold overlay

Dimensions: 64mm long including bail, 40mm wide, 11.5mm depth

Condition: very good antique condition, There is some wear to the Gold overlay, some of it has worn away over the years- the Gold overlay is well defined on the bird, the zig zag area has a hint of gold overlay which adds a warm hue to the front of the locket
